A mattress store complained to its landlord, a national retail developer, when dust streaks started to appear around air diffusers on the ceiling. TES was contacted for an evaluation, thinking that the streaks were a result of dirty air from the mall’s central plants.
Our Developer Services team collaborated with the developer’s representative to identify the source of the issue and an effective course of action. After an extensive investigation of the mechanical system’s components, we concluded that the problem was actually caused by the company’s products, which had above average VOC off gassing.
The nature of this problem didn’t require complex engineering. Instead, we recommended that the mattress store paint its ceilings black to correct the unsightliness of the dust-streaked ceiling. This small action would immediately make the space more appealing and profitable for the retailer.
Retail design and engineering has a unique set of challenges. TES Engineering has the expertise to identify these issues and develop mutually beneficial solutions for all parties involved.
